Dakota Kai is a WWE Superstar again.
Kai made a surprise appearance at SummerSlam yesterday to back up a returning Bayley in the aftermath of Bianca Belair vs. Becky Lynch.
“Surprise isn’t the word for this,” commentator Corey Graves exclaimed. “To my knowledge, Dakota Kai’s not even under WWE contract – this is truly surreal!”
Kai hadn’t been seen on WWE television since April 12, when she lost an NXT Women’s Championship match against Mandy Rose. By April 29, it was reported Kai had been released from WWE.
At the time, social media was flooded with messages of support for the Kiwi, including one from Bayley.
… And Dakota is one of the main reasons I couldn’t wait to get healthy. For the opportunity to wrestle her, to work alongside her, to make history with her.
Now I just have to be jealous of whoever gets to. We love you Charlie! See you around 😈❤️ https://t.co/kwCxQEuGBZ

“Dakota is one of the main reasons I couldn’t wait to get healthy,” Bayley tweeted. “For the opportunity to wrestle her, to work alongside her, to make history with her. Now I just have to be jealous of whoever gets to. We love you, Charlie! See you around.”
It turns out Bayley will have that opportunity after all.
Bayley and Kai were joined by Io Shirai, now known as Iyo Sky, at SummerSlam. All three women confronted Bianca Belair moments after Belair pinned Becky Lynch to retain the Raw Women’s Championship.
But why? And why now? Bayley’s not in any hurry to explain the group’s motivation.
“You’re just gonna have to wait,” she said, “just like we did.”
