Cody Rhodes burst back into the WWE Universe at WrestleMania 38, overcoming Seth Rollins in a show-stealing performance.
Rhodes and Rollins met for a second time at WrestleMania Backlash. Once again, their match was a crowd-pleaser and once again, The American Nightmare came away with the win.
Monday, June 6 (New Zealand time), the stakes have been raised. Rhodes-Rollins III goes down inside Hell in a Cell.
“I think it’d be easy for me to say I’m way better than Seth Rollins,” Rhodes said. “If we were looking at these as if they were games, the score, it’s 2-0. Why this rematch is happening is because I’m allowing it to happen.”
Rhodes is allowing it to happen because of a trademark Stomp by Rollins. Rollins attacked Rhodes to cost him an opportunity at the United States Championship, and ensure the need for a trilogy bout.
No one is truly at an advantage inside Hell in a Cell, but Rollins has survived being locked inside the steel four times.
With Rhodes’ one Hell in a Cell experience coming all the way back in 2009, The American Nightmare has been attempting to make himself “bulletproof” at The Nightmare Factory in Atlanta, Georgia in advance of Monday’s main event.
“It’s so difficult to prepare for something like a structure we’re getting ready to encounter,” Rhodes said. “It’s not just the height, it’s not just the fact that you’re locked in there with one of the absolute best wrestlers in the world, just chain-link itself … it’s not rubber. Every little piece of Hell in a Cell can hurt you.”
WWE Hell in a Cell streams live Monday, June 6, from 12pm (NZST) exclusively on WWE Network.
