Becky Lynch will have the eyes of the world on her this Friday morning (New Zealand time)—nothing out of the ordinary for Big-Time Becks.
Lynch will defend her newly-won SmackDown Women’s Championship in a triple threat against Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks at WWE Crown Jewel.
“Any time you get myself, Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair – three of the best in the industry regardless of gender – you know you are going to be watching something very special,” Lynch said in comments revealed exclusively to NZPWI. “There is no doubt that match will steal the show.”
A triple threat for the SmackDown Women’s Championship is big news on its own, but made even more impactful by happening at Crown Jewel.
The bout will be one of only four women’s matches to take place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as WWE returns to the country for the 10th time.
“Being able to inspire people is the most important thing—that’s why we do this,” Lynch said.
“We are seeing a whole new generation of women and kids and hopefully showing them what is possible and what can be done. It is hugely important for us to go over there and steal the show—which of course we will.”
Lynch returned to WWE at SummerSlam and recaptured the SmackDown Women’s Championship after 17 months away from the ring for the birth of her daughter.
Whether in Saudi Arabia or not, all Lynch’s actions now come with the greater responsibility of being a mother.
“One thing I find I look at differently now [that I am mother] is social media and how that affects people, and how it affects young people in particular,” Lynch said.
“You may have noticed but I don’t really post as much anymore, and it’s very much around the narrative of how we empower women to use our voices in an appropriate way, especially when there is so much noise all the time.
“I think I am very much still trying to figure all that out, but I think anything I do has that much more weight to it now I am a mom.”
