Can you ever cross the line when the NXT Championship is up for grabs?
Karrion Kross defends his title in a Fatal 5-Way at NXT TakeOver: In Your House this Monday (New Zealand time).
With Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Johnny Gargano, and Pete Dunne all vying for the gold, things seem to have become personal—especially between Cole and Kross. The two exchanged verbal barbs on a recent edition of NXT.
The end justifies the means for NXT Executive Producer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque.
“To me, it’s more reality-based,” Triple H said. “When you get into a confrontation with somebody, what would you bring up? Their positives, and how good of things they do, and go from there? Or would you bring up some of that, and then also bring up some of the things that are criticisms of them, or holes in their game, or weaknesses that you see?”
Cole dubbed Kross “overrated” and told the NXT Champion he was not on Cole’s level in-ring.
“There were a lot of people that questioned that first interaction between Kross and Adam Cole,” Triple H said. “They both crossed the line? I’m not going to tell you that they didn’t. I am going to tell you that the reaction that they got made it all OK.”
Reactions are key to sports entertainment, as Triple H now knows better than ever.
It’s been over a year since an NXT TakeOver was held outside of the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida with more than a handful of fans in attendance.
As the United States of America slowly overcomes the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic, WWE plans to return to full arenas for Raw and SmackDown next month. While NXT looks to stay put for the time being, Triple H can’t wait to see the WWE Universe face-to-face once again.
“It’s the lifeblood of what we do,” he said. “Never having thought we’d experience it, once you go through having no fans it makes you realise that they’re everything we do and we cannot wait to get back in front of them and show them what WWE really does again.”
NXT TakeOver: In Your House streams live this Monday, June 14, from 12pm (NZDT) on WWE Network.
