All Slade Mercer wants for Christmas is the CPW Championship.
The Mercenary challenges William Cutting for the title in the main event of CPW Christmas Chaos tonight at the Epuni Community Hall.
The match will be Mercer’s first in New Zealand since June 2018, and his first of any kind in seven months.
“Being in a ring, in front of those fans, that’s where my heart belongs,” Mercer said.
“William Cutting, I’m not just hungry… I’m starving. Sorry [that] you had to be the first, but you definitely won’t be the last.”
Mercer, then known as Max Damage, debuted in Lower Hutt in 2005.
He became Kiwi Pro Wrestling (KPW) Champion by dethroning Inferno during KPW Off the Ropes. Most recently, Mercer has been based in Australia, where he has held many more titles.
“The prodigal son of New Zealand professional wrestling returns to Wellington, where it all began, and where a new chapter will be written,” he promised.
Cutting vs. Mercer is one of three championship matches scheduled for Christmas Chaos.
Bad Bromance defend the CPW Tag Team Championship against Sir Mr Burns and The Young Nats, and Heathen Combat’s One Above All will be on the line in an open challenge issued by titleholder Bryant.
CPW Christmas Chaos takes place at Epuni Community Hall on Saturday, December 12. Tickets available from Eventfinda.
