Spartan outlasted 19 other competitors to win the annual Hughes Academy Rumble on Friday, November 20. The former Sam Black will now challenge Hughes Academy Champion Reuben de Jong for the title.
Champion and challenger stared each other down following the main event, setting the stage for what will likely be a titanic clash in 2021.
De Jong had joined the commentary team to watch the Rumble from ringside.
Kartik put on an impressive showing, entering at number one and lasting almost to the end. JT Hollow displayed his awesome power with multiple slams, and commentator Haydn Daniels even threw his hat into the ring as a surprise entrant, lasting several minutes before being eliminated by fellow reality TV star Steve Jordan.
Jordan himself didn’t get off easy in this match, however, being bodyslammed so hard the ring floor broke beneath him.
As the entrants battled inside the damaged ring, Spartan, the final entrant, entered full of fire, destroying anyone in his path. In the end, the Rumble came down to Spartan and Will Cutting before Spartan scooped Cutting up and dumped him over the top rope.
Cutting was able to avoid elimination by landing on the apron but a spear through the ropes from Spartan sent Cutting to the floor, securing Spartan’s victory to the delight of the fans.
Live Pro Wrestling kicked off with a high-energy four corners match between “The Alphalete” Charlie Roberts, Dorian Webber, Spartan, and Tyler Chase.
The bout saw all four men display an array of high impact strikes, power moves and suplexes. In the end, Webber picked up the win with a flying Meteora to Chase.
After the match an enraged Chase brutalised Webber with a cane, removing him from the Hughes Academy Rumble later in the night.
