Toni Storm has missed out on becoming a two-time NXT UK Women’s Champion.
New Zealand-born Storm wrestled Kay Lee Ray and Piper Niven in a triple threat for the title at NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool II.
Storm came close to regaining the title, held by Kay Lee Ray. A Storm Zero seemed to take out the champ before Storm leapt onto Piper Niven with a top-rope splash.
Kay Lee Ray capitalised on Storm’s work and knocked the 24-year-old from the ring before pinning Niven to retain her title.
Storm will challenge Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women’s Championship at Worlds Collide on Sunday, January 26 (New Zealand time) in Houston, Texas.
“This only makes things a hell of a lot worse for Rhea,” Storm said in a post-match interview.
“My headspace is even worse than what it was before. I was just robbed, so now I’m gonna rob Rhea.”
