Travis Banks will wrestle for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship at WWE Worlds Collide.
Banks, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, and Jordan Devlin challenge Angel Garza for the title on a card filled with NXT vs. NXT UK dream matches.
Worlds Collide is headlined by Imperium vs. The Undisputed Era.
Banks’ Cruiserweight Championship match will be his first title shot since facing Walter for the WWE UK Championship in June.
The Kiwi Buzzsaw punched his ticket to Worlds Collide in Houston, Texas with a win over Brian Kendrick on NXT UK.
“He’s a former WWE Tag Team Champion, and most importantly, he’s a former Cruiserweight Champion,” Banks said. “So I don’t think there’s anyone more prepared to walk into this fatal four-way than The Kiwi Buzzsaw.”
Kendrick didn’t let Banks off easy in the Cruiserweight Championship qualifying bout.
Kendrick used the ring steps to damage Banks’ fingers, and suplexed Banks on the floor. Kendrick then dragged The Kiwi Buzzsaw down the entrance ramp and almost beat Banks via count-out.
Banks fought free from the Captain’s Hook submission and even kicked out of a cover after Sliced Bread No. 2. Kendrick couldn’t overcome Banks’ signature moves though, and was pinned after Slice of Heaven and a Kiwi Crusher.
“What an impressive victory,” NXT UK commentator Aiden English exclaimed. “The wherewithal of Travis Banks to withstand the sadistic barrage!”
