AEW World Champion Chris Jericho has challenged Hiroshi Tanahashi to a match at NJPW’s biggest event of 2020, Wrestle Kingdom 14.
Jericho appeared at NJPW Power Struggle via video earlier tonight.
“January 5th at Tokyo Dome, The Painmaker versus The Ace, it’s going to be a classic match,” Jericho said.
“It’s also going to be your last match.”
NJPW has yet to make the match official, but Tanahashi appeared interested. The Ace said he had no other plans for the Tokyo Dome, with NJPW commentator Chris Charlton inferring: “That sounds like a yes to me!”
Wrestle Kingdom 14 will be held over two nights, January 4 and 5, next year.
Kazuchika Okada and Kota Ibushi headline January 4 in a match for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. No other matches have been confirmed.
Chris Jericho last appeared at NJPW Dominion in June in an IWGP Heavyweight Championship bout against Okada.
