Travis Banks returns to Australia this weekend for PWA Colosseum.
The Kiwi Buzzsaw is one of eight wrestlers in the second annual Colosseum tournament at a sold-out Max Watt’s in Sydney.
Banks has built a reputation as one of the best tournament wrestlers in the world.
He swept Super Strong Style 16 in 2017 en route to winning the Progress World Championship. Banks competed in PWG’s Battle of Los Angeles later that year. In 2018, Banks took part in WXW’s 16 Carat Gold, and reached the finals of the WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
As such, Banks heads into Colosseum as an overwhelming favourite.
“I don’t know if anyone’s going to be able to compete with Travis Banks, who is literally one of the best in the world,” Shazza McKenzie told The B Plus Podcast.
Banks meets “The Prize Bull” Sam Osborne in first-round tournament action tonight.
“I can learn everything about him by looking at the WWE Network. He doesn’t know anything about me,” Osborne revealed.
“He’s the favourite and it’s gonna be the match of my life but I think I’m gonna surprise some people.”
The winner of Banks vs. Osborne will meet the winner of Davis Storm vs. Ricky South in a Colosseum semi-final on Saturday. Jessica Troy vs. Orange Cassidy, and Chris Basso vs. Matty Wahlberg make up the other half of the bracket.
Banks isn’t the only Kiwi on the Colosseum card. “Hooligan” Marcus Kool crosses the ditch for a #1 Contender’s Match to the PWA Championship.
