This Saturday night, Marcus Kool has an opportunity for revenge.
“The Hooligan” challenges T-Rex to a rematch from their last Southern Pro Wrestling (SPW) headliner at what will be the first live pro wrestling event held in Queenstown.
Kool lost to T-Rex, an Invercargill native, at SPW’s debut event but is hoping for a different result now it’s T-Rex who will be fighting in hostile territory.
“I underestimated him in Invercargill but now I know he is the real deal so he is going to get me full throttle,” Kool told Queenstown’s Mountain Scene.
“I will now be calling him out in the hope he will have the balls to accept the challenge of coming to my home turf under a hostile environment.”
Assuming T-Rex accepts Kool’s challenge, the match will headline SPW Live in Queenstown at Queenstown Ice Arena.
Also on the card for Saturday’s event is a tag team title match with trans-Tasman implications.
IPW Tag Team Champions Kingi and Vinny Dunn, The Iwi, defend their titles against Australian-based expats Jade Diamond and Slade Mercer, The Destroyers.
Diamond and Mercer have held numerous titles individually since leaving New Zealand for Australia, but have yet to claim tag team gold as a duo.
The Iwi, meanwhile, have wrestled across North America and Australia, but will be looking to assert themselves as New Zealand’s premier tag team in their Queenstown debut.
SPW Live in Queenstown takes place this Saturday, November 7, at Queenstown Ice Arena. Doors open at 5.30pm with a bell time of 6.30pm. Tickets are available online, or in limited quantity at the door. The card, subject to change, is listed below.
