The first test of Charlie Roberts’ Hughes Academy Championship reign will be his biggest, as he defends the title against three challengers this Saturday night.
Roberts faces Ben Mana, Hotaru, and Kade Morgan in a four-way elimination match at Live Pro Wrestling.
The Rodeo Drive kingpin won the vacant Hughes Academy Championship last month after defeating Hotaru, Kade Morgan, and Kauri Walker in a round-robin tournament.
Roberts had then been set to defend his title against the three men he overcame, but a post-match attack on Kauri Walker at the hands of Rodeo Drive left him unable to compete on Saturday’s card.
As such, former NZWPW and SCW Champion Ben Mana stepped up to take Walker’s place, and make sure Roberts’ first defence would be anything but easy.
“Only three sleeps to go till I go savage on a maka tiko bum named Charlie Roberts,” Mana wrote earlier this week.
“As for the other two, Hotaru and Kade Morgan, I’ve faced you both in the past and I have a massive amount of respect for you. But if I can give you any advice – stay out of the path of me gunning for Roberts or else you’ll end up just like him.”
Hughes Academy Live Pro Wrestling takes place this Saturday, October 25, at the Kelston Community Centre in Auckland.
