Liam Fury has beaten Travis Banks to become the new IPW Champion.
Banks overcame every member of The Investment he was scheduled to face at Trial by Combat – including Curt Chaos in a tables match at the start of the night – but wasn’t expecting to be challenged by Fury.
Fury invoked the title shot he had earned as a result of winning the IPW Eliminator at Genesis to take advantage of Banks’ weakened state, forcing the champion into his fourth title match of the night.
Banks had just defeated both Aaron Henry and Jakob Cross in a triple threat bout to retain his title a third time when Investment head Daniel Burnell announced there was still one more opponent left for the IPW Champion.
After teasing that he himself might step up to face Banks, Burnell announced Liam Fury as Banks’ final challenger, just as Fury flew from the top rope to blindside Banks with a missile dropkick.
The bell sounded and Fury scraped Banks off the canvas for a Machine Head Mk II, before pinning Banks to win his first IPW Championship.
