The New Japan Cup tournament continues tonight, with New Zealand’s Bad Luck Fale competing in a quarter final bout.
Fale’s momentum is high following multi-man wins with the Bullet Club at New Japan live events throughout the week leading up to tonight’s singles match.
“The Underboss” is scheduled to take on former NEVER Openweight Champion Tetsuya Naito.
Fale earned his place in the tournament quarter final with a win over “Unchained Gorilla” Togi Makabe last Saturday – pinning Makabe following the Bad Luck Fall.
Should Naito suffer the same fate tonight, Fale will advance to the semi-final and possibly final stages of the New Japan Cup tournament, held tomorrow.
Other competitors still left in the tournament include Shelton “X” Benjamin, Katsuyori Shibata, and Shinsuke Nakamura.
The winner of the New Japan Cup will receive a title match of their choice, either for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, currently held by Kazuchika Okada, or Hiroshi Tanahashi’s IWGP Intercontinental Championship.
