SCW Champion “Lethal” Lazza Stevens faces the biggest threat to his title reign yet at Slam City 3.
Stevens is slated to defend his title against former two-time NZWPW Champion “Rufguts” Roddy Gunn in SCW’s last show of the year this Saturday.
The champion has successfully defended his title three times in 2012 – most recently retaining via disqualification against Reece Breeg at Brawl in the Hall, and submitting Matt Mackay in the Lethal Lock at Marlborough Mayhem.
But both of Stevens’ previous opponents pale in comparison to “Rufguts” Roddy Gunn.
Gunn is a former two-time holder of the NZWPW Championship – a title which he has defeated the likes of D-Hoya, Travis Banks and Tykade to retain.
He is also an accomplished sumo wrestler and has represented New Zealand at the World Combat Games in Beijing, China.
Gunn will bring a wealth of experience and tenacity with him to the ring in Saturday, but will it be enough to overcome Stevens’ heart and desire to retain his title on his home turf in Blenheim?
The Slam City 3 card will also host a triple threat between top singles contenders D-Mack, Justice Sharpe, and Sammy V.
All three will be looking to take home the win and become number one contender to the SCW Championship – whether the title is held by Gunn or Stevens at the end of the night.
And, in a special KPW showcase, Marcus Kool – wrestling out of England by way of Queenstown – ventures north from the KPW Queenstown Pro Wrestling Academy to take on student-turned-adversary, “Powerhouse” T-Rex.
SCW Slam City 3 takes place this Saturday, December 1, at Redwoodtown School, Blenheim. Doors open at 6.30pm with the show scheduled to begin at 7pm. Tickets are available on the door ($10 for adults and children). The card, subject to change, is listed below.
