Inside a humid arena, IPW Commissioner Dion McCracken began his quest to “shake the foundations” and invoke change in Impact Pro Wrestling.
Following a massive brawl that saw the entire roster pry Tykade from Reuben de Jong in the opening minutes of his match with Alfred Valentine, McCracken rebooked the main event to involve de Jong teaming alongside his arch rival, “Te Tahi” Vinny Dunn, against IPW Heavyweight Champion Alexander and Tykade.
The reigning heavyweight champion, Alexander, and Tykade dominated the majority of the match, isolating the former three-time IPW Heavyweight Champion “Te Tahi” Vinny Dunn from his corner.
In the closing moments of the match, “Te Tahi” began to make a comeback after being dominated by Tykade, hitting the giant with his Pukana Spear. With the crowd behind the former champion, “Te Tahi” slowly gathered his energy to pull himself up in the corner. Tykade attacked, attempting a running clothesline, but “Te Tahi” dodged the bullet, making the hot tag to de Jong.
The monster began to clear house, delivering a series of powerful clotheslines, knocking Tykade down. After ejecting “The Samoan Silverback” to ringside, de Jong continued to brawl with Tykade before delivering a devastating chokeslam to gain the victory.
The stakes were higher for the IPW Tag Team Champions, “The Deal” Dal Knox and Dave O’Connor, after McCracken changed their original match into a huge five tag team turmoil for the championships.
The elite team of Liam Fury and Travis Banks kicked the turmoil off, defeating TNT and Fro Fitness before having their championship dreams crippled by Knox and O’Connor after Banks fell victim to the Knox Out, eliminating their team from the match.
As the champions began their celebrations, the team of Rocket and The Ant surprised the Lynfield crowd as the fifth and final entry in the turmoil match. After having The Ant betray him, Rocket found himself in shark-infested waters, falling victim to the champions after O’Connor locked on an octopus stretch to retain the championships by submission.
Dion McCracken continued to rock the foundations by announcing that the women’s division will finally have a championship title to contend for, with a huge match at the March 31st show, Genesis, to determine the first ever IPW New Zealand Women’s Champion.
Following the events earlier in the night, Handsome Reflections featured The Ant. Looking into a huge, sparkling, bedazzled mirror, The Ant listened as “Handsome” Danny Jacobs read his “reflection”. Jacobs told The Ant that he needed to break out and away from Rocket otherwise he would suffer the same fate as Jesse Astro – the former tag partner of Rocket. Rocket made his way out, attempting to convince his partner not to listen to Jacobs’ manipulative speech. Ant, now billed as Antonio, proceeded to attack his former partner before pinning him in an impromptu match that lasted less than a minute.
In a special attraction, fans were treated to the first ever “Kiss My Ass” match. Continuing the inter-promotional war that started two years ago, New Zealand Wide Pro Wrestling’s Ben Mana locked up with IPW’s Kingi.
In the closing moments of the match, Mana looked to demolish Kingi with a huge splash in the turnbuckle but missed after Kingi outsmarted the Maori Warrior by putting his feet onto the ropes. Kingi rolled Mana up out of the turnbuckle, gaining the three-count.
While Mana prepared to kiss Kingi’s buttocks, “Handsome” Danny Jacobs made his way to the ring proclaiming “you can’t have a Kiss My Ass Match” without his presence. Upon entering the ring, Elias ran in, hitting the big boot on his former mentor, leaving him unconscious in the center of the ring with his pants around his ankles. Mana and Kingi laughed together before Kingi blindsided his adversary with the Silencer Superkick, causing the Maori Warrior to land face first onto “Handsome” Dan’s backside.
